Her guitar is a Gibson Les Paul Traditional in Heritage Cherry Sunburst. She names it Gīta, which quite literally means "guitar". Even though the truss rod cover is from a Standard model, and thus has that name on it, Yui's guitar has a pickguard (which the Standard lacks), as well as the different tuners found on the Traditional. The price, weight, and music store clerk's first thought that it was vintage are also highly suggestive of a Traditional. She uses D'Addario EXL145 strings on it, oddly heavy strings for her and the music she plays. Of course, being Yui, she likely has no idea there are different sizes of strings. Her surname is taken from Japanese electropop-artist and P-Model founder Susumu Hirasawa (平沢進, Susumu Hirasawa).
Her first name means "only" (唯, "tada"; only, simply, merely; "She is the only one who can do that.")

Yui has a habit of naming and talking to inanimate objects as if they were people, a trend that gradually includes her bandmates and their instruments. She is especially fond of her guitar, which she calls "Gīta". Yui later names Mio's bass "Elizabeth" (a pun on the Japanese pronunciation of that name and the word "bass") without permission, which annoys Mio (at first). Afterwards, Azusa considers naming her own guitar "Mu-tan" (because it sounds like Mustang), a name she decides to keep for it.

Yui is apparently allergic to air conditioning, though she can't stand to be overly hot or cold temperatures in general.^[1] Yui also easily gets carsick, but is immune to heat strokes. ^[2]
Yui, who is unable to write a proper lyrics at first, is the one who writes Ho-Kago Tea Time's latest song, U&I. The song is dedicated to her sister, Ui, when she realized how precious Ui is for her (Ui caught a cold when she wrote the lyrics). She also wrote Gohan wa Okazu with Ui's help.
Yui can't resist when it comes to cute dogs. Every time she sees one, she holds its head and says that it's cute. Her favorite breed is pugs.
Yui couldn't properly sing and play music simultaneously. Sawa-chan (Yui calls her) teaches her. Unfortunately, Yui loses her voice.
Yui has the second largest hands out of the Ho-Kago Tea Time group, after Mio.
The Light Music Club is the first club Yui ever joins in her life.
Yui has a habit of hugging people when she feels the liking, often without the other persons consent.
