It's Yui's first year of high school with her childhood friend Nodoka Manabe. But Yui is having a hard time choosing a club that suits her. But if Yui doesn't join a club she will become a NEET. When Yui caught her eye on a poster of the Light Music Club, she had the idea that "light music" equals to "easy music" like whisling or playing cute instruments like the casenets. Yui subminted her application to join the club, but before she colud even join or meet the members she already decided on quiting because of her thoughts about meeting death metal members. When Yui was just outside the club room which is the music room, being crazliy paranoid, Ritsu Tainaka Light Music Club's president finally meet her fourth member for the club. Yui was quickly introduced to the rest of the members: Mio Akiyama , the Bassist, and Tsumugi Kotobuki, the keyboardist. The members also served her tea and sweets to welcome Yui, which made it harder to explain to the members that she wanted to quit. While drinking tea Yui soon realizes that the goal for the club is to form a band. But then she later finally confesses that she wanted to quit and it's because the the members thought she played guitar, but Yui doesn't. Despite this the members tried their best to keep Yui to stay by sweets, and playing a short piece. After the short piece played by Mio, Ritsu, and Tsumugi, Yui was finally convinced to join the club. The club wanted her to learn guitar and be the club's guitarist. But before Yui could be a guitarist, she has to buy one first.
